Alternative Education
Gibber has extensive experience working with young people of all abilities and backgrounds including socially excluded, looked after children, disaffected young people and groups of young offenders.
We have developed a flexible programme of smaller scale workshops to cover a range of age appropriate issues including general confidence and motivation, careers, substance misuse and sexual health.
These more intimate sessions enable the young people to learn at their own pace and discover the answers for themselves. Being fully involved helps make the issues ‘more real’ and encourages the young people to identify their own individual barriers to learning, gaining a clearer understanding of the choices available to them with a relevance to their own lives. Our smaller scale workshop format is ideal for SEN or PRU audiences.
Alcohol & Anti-Social Behaviour
Trashed is a multi-media performance that raises awareness around the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption ‘binge drinking’ and the impact of anti social behaviour and alcohol related crime on the community.
The performance explores the negative influence alcohol misuse has on the lives of three young people, their health, behaviour and relationships. Incorporating 3 optional filmed scenarios to highlight:
/ Police point of view - how drunk and disorderly behaviour impacts
on the community.
/ Paramedic point of view – compromised personal safety when you
are drunk.
/ Sexual health messages - compromised sexual health practice
when under the influence of alcohol.
This hard hitting, effective programme is designed for a whole year group.

Run the Risk is an interactive drama based workshop for a maximum of 40 pupils that examines the effects of alcohol and the associated risk related behaviour. Highlighting the consequences of alcohol related anti-social behaviour we debate the severity of these crimes with a focus on personal safety.
Tobacco Education
The Truth is a multi-media performance that explores the tobacco industry and the tactics it uses to influence youth and adult smoking. Our multi media backdrop enables us to include broadcast quality anti tobacco adverts and graphics of factual tobacco Industry quotes to raise awareness of the conscious strategic thinking behind the production, marketing and selling of cigarettes to young people. Ideal for developing young peoples enquiry and communication skills.

Enterprise
Enterprising Me is a magazine style performance that encourages young people to ‘think outside the box’ and re-evaluate the world around them with a ‘can do’ attitude. The performance explores the notion of ambitions and dreams, while challenging young people to observe themselves and recognise their own potential barriers to progression. This allows us to highlight the need for enterprise skills in all aspects of their lives and highlights strategies for developing them.
Careers
Your life is a high energy, entertaining performance that raises aspirations and passes on positive information about the many different routes into HE post 16. By using identifiable characters and fun interactive scenarios that the audience can relate to we dispel preconceptions and negative attitudes towards HE raising awareness of its accessibility for all. The performance presents the many options available to young people that they may have other wise ignored, encourages individual responsibility and challenges them to become more self aware, plan ahead and access the support they need to successfully stay in learning.
