Gibber delivers several programmes of work to raise awareness of the tobacco industry and tactics it uses to influence and retain youth and adult smokers. We facilitated youth consultation on behalf of Fresh North East. As well as produce ‘Film In A Week’ tobacco education programme for primary schools. In addition, delivery of ‘The Truth’ a 50 minute multimedia performance and follow on workshop for Newcastle Primary Care Trust.
‘The Truth’ incorporates live dramatic scenarios following the experiences of three credible young people. Our multi-media backdrop enables us to include broadcast quality anti-tobacco adverts and graphics of factual tobacco industry quotes. This helps to raise awareness of the conscious strategic thinking behind the production, marketing and selling of cigarettes to young people.
‘The Truth’ has so far been delivered to approximately 45,000 pupils in schools across the North East of England. It has also been further developed to focus upon the benefits of plain packaging and how the tobacco industry targets young women.
