Overview
A powerful and interactive theatre experience exploring consent and respectful relationships for Years 9–11.
Call It Out is a dynamic and engaging theatre in education program that tackles one of the most important conversations young people face today; affirmative consent and respectful relationships. Students witness how gender stereotyping, social media, pornography, peer pressure and power dynamics can influence behaviour and attitudes in real-life situations.
- Pre and post teaching resources developed by ACHPER NSW.
- Live theatre performance developed by Gibber and performed by a cast of 3 professional actor / facilitators.
- Interactive post performance workshop.
Blending live interactive theatre, humour, and multimedia, the play follows the lives of three relatable teenagers as they navigate friendships, crushes, online pressures, toxic masculinity, and the perceived blurred lines of consent. From awkward classroom banter to uncomfortable social encounters, the characters face situations that challenge what it means to give, ask for, and recognise consent. They are encouraged to “call it out”, to spot coercion, challenge harmful behaviour, and understand their rights and responsibilities in intimate relationships.
The post-show workshop, gives students the tools to become active bystanders, understand the law around image-sharing, and reflect on their own role in shaping an informed culture of consent and respect.
